It's finally snowing

Well it finally became winter. It's like someone flipped the switch and turned on the air conditioner. Hood River recieved just about 6 to 8 inches with the mountains get just a bit over 3 feet. Portland got hammered also with most of the schools closed (Mon 12/15) for snow day the kids of HR just got a 2 hour delay before going to school.
Well on Saturday Sean, Dan, Nixion and I decided to hike the mountain. We started out from the parking lot at Mt. Hood Meadows and decided to hike the north canyon ridge. Sean and Dan broke trail and left me in the dust with 3 step to every 1 of mine but, hey they are 26 years younger than I.
I did make all the way up to the top of express. Our plan of attack was to drop 1 bowl traverse over to 2 bowl. Not know what the coverage was going to be the first couple of turns were very cautious hoping not to hit any rocks but, the snow was sweet. Two bowl looked insane and Nixion dropped first and all we heard were screams of joy. I decide to go second and it must of been my three turn where I sunk down to my chest and snowing flying up over my face, yes first face shot of the year. As I made my way over to where Nixon was I glaced back to see both Sean and Dan getting there face shots also. The snow conditions were just amazing which made every single step we made worth a million bucks.
Now the plan was to traverse over to 3 bowl. Well shit we had to unbuckle and paddle our boards through some deep snow. 3 bowl look good also but at the bottom the creek was still showing so we decided it might be better to hit up 4 bowl. Good Call Sean becauce 4 bowl was waistdeep pow.
All I can say it's good to have earned our turns.
See you on the hill.
